Friend’s family member went as an athlete and did not like the social scene. As everyone said, very rich and uppity.

Beautiful campus. As others have mentioned, there's a strong white, fratty, preppy/East Coast vibe. FWIW (probably not much), the tour guide stressed that Greek numbers are steadily going down and the culture on campus is changing as it becomes more diverse. My Midwestern DS liked the academic programs and the location but was not as in love with the social vibe. The academics seem strong and they have several unique programs.

Is Potter's Pub still there?

It’s walkable to a Chico’s AND a Talbots!

And a great restaurant is there too. Don't remember the name but enjoyed it. I was lecturing at the law school

I've been to a lot of college tours and every single one starts out with a slide about how much they love love love diversity and they want more of it. (Then you look around the room and everyone in the tour is white or Asian.) Wonder what it was about Richmond that made you think their obligatory "we love diversity" shtich was more fake than anywhere else.

Only 60% white. You might not want to say that again. Perhaps only white could afford to go to the college tour. https://www.richmond.edu/about/consumer-info/diversity.html

FWIW, our URM/POC child declined last year. Rich kids from Jersey vibe, seemed kind of defensive about diversity. There have been some high profile, for Richmond, racial incidents.

We wanted to love it because of strong LAC academics. But we trusted DC's gut feeling. DC now very happy at honors in large, diverse public school.

Very heavy Greek focus. Strong academics.

I know of an alumni about 15 years out who's doing very well in their Big 4 career. I think of rich, white, and preppy when it comes to UR. The academics are good, the business school is decently rated.
