Do they have a block schedule? That is how my kid gets to bed by 10pm. If they had all their classes everyday it would be too much.

My 10th grader got home around 5:30, dinner at 6, then started studying for tests. She does the bulk of her homework at school during the free period.

She's usually in bed around 10, up around 6:30. I think she'd collapse if she was routinely awake until 1:00.

17 year old is in bed by 9:45, up at 7. He’s had that same schedule for years.

Mine go to sleep between 10pm and 11pm, depending on sports schedules. They wake up at 7:30am... so about 8.5 to 9 hours of sleep. The late wake-up time is possible because 1) they are boys who shower at night, 2) I make their breakfast when I am making my own, and 3) they bike to school (can leave the house at 7:50/55 and arrive at 8:05 before the 8:10 bell).

Mine sleep from about 10-7 (are in their rooms without electronics etc and presumed to be sleeping). Our normal HS start time is 8:30. They also have two late start days per week (start time 9:30) so on those days they usually sleep late - wake up around 8.

I can’t imagine how it would be with earlier start times however. Middle school was bad enough (7:30 start, for us).

I’d say asleep by 10:30-11:00 and awake at 6:45. Very consistent and does it on their own. Our other kid is a mess and it’s more like 1:00am-7:05…not enough! We try to manage but we go to sleep around 11:00pm so can’t do much about the night owl. Late teens.

My 14yr old downtime on her phone goes off at 10pm and she rarely is awake past 10:30pm. Between school, sports, and homework she is exhausted. Up at 6:45pm so she gets a little over 8hrs.

My 16 yo has recently gotten into a nice routine of falling asleep around 9:30-10 pm. She has to wake up at 6 am for school. Now, my 13 yo has more or less the same schedule but he needs more sleep!

If you are one of those rare families whose highschool aged teens are getting a good, healthy amount of sleep, can you please share what time your teens usually go to bed and what time they get up in the morning? Just trying to get a sense of what the ideal is.
