Our child is smart and does well academically, but also is socially anxious, and we are trying to determine what, if any, public high school would be right. Any thoughts on the culture would help us. Kids can be cliquish, but that’s at all schools. My kids found their clique. Sports are very competitive. You pretty much have to have bee playing since elementary school and do club to be on varsity. There are clubs to join.
There is drugs, alcohol and vaping. It’s a reality.
Lots of Asian and Indian. Look up demographics on MCPS. Graduation rate is tops in the county, so are test scores. It’s a good school.

In my opinion, the school is very cliquish with online bullying and in person bullying common place. Drugs in the school are also a problem. Classes are crowded and many teachers are burnt out.
If you have resources to consider private, there are close by private schools that may be happier places for a transfer student.
Wootton is a little less wealthy and a bit more academically competitive because there are more Asians at Wootton.m...just FYI.Anonymous wrote:We are planning a move to the area.
