This is me. I do statistics for a living. But you know what? We learned in grad school that utility (aka happiness including fantasy and escapism) is also valuable, and while it’s hard to put a value on these it’s probably more than $2. As long as you aren’t gambling the house…:

Powerball tickets are $2 per play BUT "power play" is an additional $1 per play, and will multiply a non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times.

Can do customer service counter but they usually close way before the cutoff (at least at mine). Or can use the vending machine which will stay open until the cutoff time

So, either way works and your odds are the same.

I didn't even know that debit card is ok. I hardly ever use debit card. I knew credit wouldn't be because of the fees.
Now I buy online of cash if I happen to be there. While the new machine is cool, it's really low.

or a debit card - no credit card. I learned this the hard way trying to buy tickets a few months ago for the first time.

The vending machines at giant are what i use. you need to pay cash or with a debit card, you can't use a credit card. They are easy to use.

I want to put them in a card for a nephew's 18th birthday. I'm clueless about this, obviously.
