Bumping this because it’s that time of year!

I have a few books to add (creepy/atmospheric but not violent/gruesome): “Annihilation,” by Jeff VanderMeer; “We Have Always Lived in the Castle,” by Shirley Jackson; “The God of Endings,” by Jacqueline Holland; “The Little Stranger,” by Sarah Waters; “I’m Thinking of Ending Things,” by Ian Reid.

Anyone have books to add that aren’t already covered in this thread?

Let the Right One in is the best vampire book I have ever read. Also love Smilla’s Sense of Snow. Nothing sets a creepy fall vibe quite like a dark Scandinavian novel.

Give me a list of your best spooky books for this month! Only thing I absolutely cannot handle is animal violence/deaths.
