Find a study-abroad program operated by a different college or university and follow DC's own school's rules for transferring the course credit back in. DC's own institution's abroad office should be able to give some recommendations.

Sometimes other colleges allow participation from non-enrolled students. I would look into that as an alternative option.

Start by checking with your college's study abroad office. They will probably have a list of companies whose credits they'll accept. That could narrow it down.

My college student would like to study Spanish in Spain this summer, but their own college's program doesn't work for a variety of reasons. Does anyone have experience with any private study abroad programs? The options are overwhelming and I don't know how to tell what ones are reputable.
