I’m not worried about this at all because MCPS has great processes in place for selecting high school principals.

New poster. I don't think you necessarily need to post the whole email, but people from the community are invested in the school. We have a recent grad, for instance. Other people might be sending kids to WJ in a few years.

I'm so sad. She is amazing. I also wonder about the timing. Maybe she has some type of family milestone (new grandchild) or a health issue? Or maybe she has reached her breaking point.


The letter said best timing for her family.

Yes, she just sent an email around yesterday announcing her retirement in December. I'm really bummed -- she's been a great principal IMO.

It's advertised on MCPS careers for the current school year. Is she retiring?
