Following up with an additional question - does your child have any diagnoses or supports in place?

The ADOS is considered the gold standard. Was the report conclusive in saying no autism, or was it inconclusive? If it was conclusive, it might be helpful to focus on your child's specific needs. You say you want to gain a fuller sense of their challenges - what would you say their challenges are? Social skills, learning difficulties? I understand wanting a clear assessment, but you can also pursue treatment and supports without an autism label. Some services (e.g., accommodations at school) might require some diagnosis (not ASD specifically), but outside resources like individual therapy may not. Have you had other testing done before, or just the ADOS?

Did the evaluator have any other suggestions or diagnoses they wanted to consider or rule out?

No finding of autism after the ADOS but would like a fuller sense of child's challenges. Child is a teen. What additional testing do you do after that?
