Chronometer is the best.

Mfp used to be better and all their paid features were free. Now it’s clunky.

LoseIt is what I’ve used for many years now, off & on as needed. IME it is the most robust with the largest foods database. Also for me LoseIt the easiest to use and feels more intuitive. I found MFP to be comparatively clunky and slow. I’ve also tried Noom (big “no” from me) and Weight Watchers (great app but don’t love the plan).

I haven't paid for either app (yet), but so far I prefer Lose It. The free version of MFP felt cluttery, and it was difficult to input your own items. Lose It has more a much cleaner interface and flexibility with adding your food. Also, it still scans nutrition labels with the free version.

I had also looked into Cronometer, but haven't tried it yet.

That is my major complaint about MFP. I've used it for years and was very disappointed that this feature was moved to the pay version only. Also, I've noticed that my history on MFP is not as extensive as it once was, meaning I used to be able to find something I'd logged weeks ago, but now it seems it only keeps a catalog of my stuff for maybe 1 week. I may have to try Lose It. I was hesitant before because I didn't want to lose all that history I had with MFP.

I prefer MFP, but i had also used it for years before giving lose it a try. I didn't like that with the free version of Lose it you can't pre-log for the next day.

Lose It is more fun. If I'm more likely to use the app, I'm more likely to lose the weight.
