This is DS's ED choice and I know the scattergram well - there's less than a 10% chance a kid with a 3.5 or lower GPA is accepted ED. I assume those accepted are recruited athletes or related to the pope or something special. I assume the chance is essentially zero at Georgetown.

Is that weighted or unweighted? Private school or public? If that’s unweighted from a rigorous private that’s completely different than weighted from a public.

+1. A lot more information needed.

There is a lot of information missing in the OP's description, but I can't see how Georgetown or BC would be an option with that GPA - public or private.

they don't, and they wouldn't absent some huge "other" thing going on.

The other thing we’d need to know is whether the 3.5 is a consistent level or whether it reflects an average between a really tough 9th grade year and a much stronger 11th grade year. A student with an upward trajectory is in a stronger position than a student with the same overall GPA but at a consistent level.

I’m sorry, but where did OP indicate her student is at a private school?

pp's kid is at a private with a 3.5; we don't know about OP's kid's school.

My assumption is if this parent is posting - they are not coming from a rigorous private as they would be getting all the support they need from there at this point in time in the application process.

This is my kid as well.
We are looking at schools that are smaller and can give a little more attention to see what he may offer. Make sure she has a solid personal statement and uses the optional place to talk about her GPA - not make excuses - but what she learned along the way to bring to the next step on her journey.
Using ED for a school that he loves and grades are lower end of Naviance scatterplot for his school acceptances - and showing a lot of demonstrated interest (multiple visits, connecting when on campus, interview)
My DS is doing everything reasonable to have a stellar report card for 1st Quarter to supplement his narrative of growth.
What is your DD interested in?

DD with low GPA ~3.5 and 1540 in SAT, what strategy, ED, RD options to consider?
