I still see a lot of this style being built and purchased, which I think answers OP's question in the affirmative.

The best thing if you’re building an infill house is to look to the style of the neighborhood, the geography, and the history of the area.

Really dated and to be avoided IMO - that vertical siding, black windows, and gray floors.

Yes, farmhouses are out of style. So are all of the cookie-cutter kitchens you see in those farmhouses.

Yes they are out of style in this area as people are moving towards more modern styles. I agree that you should do what you want but if you're here asking you're probably trying to stay on or ahead of the trends.

It seems like everyone is building those saltbox styles that I don't personally love and they can tend to really stick out in older neighborhoods.

What about a more classic cottage style?

It's out of style but here's the thing: most everything eventually becomes out of style. Buy what you like and be yourself.

Modern farmhouse is terrible. It's always been terrible.

It was never a good idea in an area that doesnt also have a lot of actual farmhouses. Very contrived.

Modern farmhouse has been on the way out for several years now.
But if you like it, you should buy it/build it. It's not like you're going to try to keep up with the "trends" every shift, are you?
