My kids are 4 and 7 and I mostly just want them to grow up. I’m so unbelievably tired. Like I am never NOT tired. I’m more tired than I was when they were babies. I don’t like being a parent.

This is so sad. I'm sorry.

Op ... you want your babies to grow up, make happy homes, and have babies! More babies to love!!

I'm sure you want to do all you can to guide good things for their future. How about you steer your mindset this way -- that the best way you can do the best for them -- is to promote joy for the here and now, and their future selves.

OP, you will mourn this. Other parents will mourn other phases more.

I only realized the truth of “the days are long but the years are short” after having children.

Yes, I have terrible nostalgia. My oldest is 37 and my youngest is 27. Sometimes I just look at old pics and my heart hurts. I miss those days (even though I was stressed during them!).

My 13 year old is basically a man, taller than his Dad but he is still such a small child inside. It's harder to bring the child out, but he does every so often. I love him so much and the person he's become. I don't miss him only because that little boy is still there.
