It's a legality that companies must abide or risk fines, and even though it's a bit time-consuming, it's the best way to keep your inbox clear. Companies add you to multiple lists, so you have to unsubscribe from all, either in one visit to the company website, or by clicking the link in the email.

As a PP said, if they don't have a link to unsub, it's illegal and if you're feeling litigious, you could report them. Sometimes they're putting the link in white font so it's unreadable. Oh the tricks.

But what if you click on "unsubscribe" and go through all the steps and then you still keep getting messages from them? These are from reputable companies (e.g., I'm going through this now with StubHub). So frustrating and seems illegal but I don't know who to report it to, if anyone.

My DH complains about this too, and deletes EVERYTHING and then whines he can’t find things.

For PROMOTIONS, can you guys explain a bit more? I have the promotions tab with emails in it, but when I go to INBOX, those same emails still appear. Do yours only appear in PROMOTIONS?

What about having to reject cookies for practically every website or online newspaper?

This never works for me. I just use filters to black hole it all to spam or trash.

Logins drive me nuts too. I can't take any more logins.

Every time I buy something online I get several spammy emails after and have to unsubscribe. Remember the good old days when you could just buy something and move on?

Google will route spammy email to "promotions" if you set it up.

Honestly, I tend to just gloss over them and let them sit unread in my inbox.

It's so annoying and I believe I've gotten re-added to some of these lists I've unsub'd from years ago.

I agree it’s annoying.
I do that plus mark it as spam

If there's no direct Unsubscribe link then it's a criminal scam and you shouldn't engage.

Mark as spam and move on.

I mark as spam. That helps a little.

Like many people my email is flooded with garbage and if you want to unsubscribe you have to search for the fine print and then input your email address. It is a royal pain to have to do this multiple times a day. Is there an easier way? Just putting it into the trash doesn’t seem to help.
