I’m thinking our whole house replacement was $10,000. It’s a lot doors. And they all need primed and 2 coats of paint and hardware.

To the Pp who had them replaced - did you replace with prehung doors? It sounds like it?

Painting is a PITA if you want to do it well. I've DIY'ed a bunch of painting in my house including doors and it's back-breaking work!

That said, you don't need to spray to get a great finish (unless you're going high gloss). You just need high quality trim paint and a nicer microfiber roller for the flat surfaces.

We replaced six 30-32" interior doors with solid wood two panel doors, and it ran around $600 per door installed - new trim and caulked but NOT painted.

However, we also had three double french doors. And replacing those with solid wood versions was closer to $1200 per set.

Most of the door installers we contacted do not paint the doors, so we did that ourselves - which in retrospect we should have hired out because painting doors is a PITA. I should have hired a pro to take the doors off the hinges, remove the hardware and use a paint sprayer for a better finish too.

I'm PP. forgot to mention the above did not include the door knobs which we provided

Hmm good question. My previous home had, I think, solid wood. Definitely more heft and substance than the new house. I guess I can go to Home Depot and see what they have and if solid core would do the trick. Thank you so much for the guidance.

Standard size it's super easy to pop off and pop on a new door. Any handyman can do it and you could diy easily.
I'm guessing max 1 day of work so under $500 for labor, plus cost of the doors and paint. Each door $150-500 depending on how fancy you want to get.

Just bought a new house and all the doors are composite rather than solid wood. My husband does not care at all but for some reason it really annoys me and I want solid wood doors.

Any guess on how much it would cost to have someone replace and paint per door?
