Have fun! And if you enjoy it, you could try other types of dance. My daughter takes a teen/adult hip-hop class and loves it.

No it's not a drop in, it's a structured program with enrollment. I have done no ballet ever, I don't think a drop in would work for me.

Awesome! My teen daughters dance and the dancers in the adult classes at their studio seem friendly and have a lot of camaraderie so it looks like fun. They've been trying to convince me to try it because apparently my feet, with my sky high arches and high insteps that have been the absolute bane of my shoe shopping existence for my entire life, are "amazing" and my ugly hyper-extended knees are desirable. Who knew, right? There's a very good reason I was in orchestra and a runner though. lol

Wonderful! I took a class in college. I'd always wanted to do it as a little kid, but my parents picked different activities for me. 
I would say some stretching, review of positions, barre work, and some simple combinations. All with lovely music playing. Enjoy!

Thanks for these responses! I am excited too, have been waiting to do this for long.
I was inspired after reading a story about a woman in her late 40s who considered herself not very graceful but started ballet anyway and took lessons for 6 years and now considers herself a ballerina.
She doesn’t perform but dances for herself. I don’t know if that will be my trajectory but I have always wanted to study ballet since I was a child. And now I will be doing it!

I don’t know but I am so jealous! I never have done any dance, finally got the courage to sign up for a term of ballet, and then a schedule change foiled my plans. Have fun!!

This is awesome! I'm excited for you. The teacher likely won't start at the very beginning like they do for tots, since I'm sure you've seen ballet in the wild.
It will still be a bit slow as you get used to having your body in proper ballet alignment (turnout, not sickling when you point). They won't focus on speed but placement and strength building - so many little muscles in your feet!

I just enrolled and first class is in 2 weeks! I have never done any ballet class but have always wanted to.
But have done other types of dance as an adult eg belly dancing and flamenco at Joy of Dance many years ago.
I’m pretty active but knees are an issue from running.
Just wondering what I can expect from the classes.
