I’m not Indian, I am Pakistani-American. I make around $400k. I work twice as hard as mg peers, and missed a lot of fun things in my twenties to get here. I would hope my kids have more fun and have a more chill life. It is fun now, however, to walk into the room and be the one in charge, so I guess it’s not all bad!

It’s hard because my fellow South Asians don’t support me because I’m Pakistani or a woman- not sure which. If they are Indian, unless they are a very nice women, they treat me not so great. If they don’t know I’m pakistani they will go on rants against Pakistan. It sucks.

Any “degree” from India is crap. Most often I have found many Indians flat out lie about their supposed education from India. Ethics don’t exist with most. Now, after being burned more than once, just try not to hire any South Asian, unless they have been educated in the US.

I am not going to try to change your mind. My MBA is from a top university in India, clearly I can do the job well that’s why I have survived. In a role like mine, if I didn’t know my work then I would be out flat on my a$$ in 3 months. Also, DH got his bachelor’s from IIT Delhi, they are better than even the so called MIT graduates but you go ahead and hang on right there to biases and prejudice.

I believe…you and please continue touting your “credentials” to others as required.

Indians loveeeee TESLA, a status that you have arrived. I’m also a white dude and know numerous Indians with teslas, and a few red ones! I drove my Indian buddy to Tyson’s to pick up his Tesla, and over 50% of the vehicles had Indian or Asian names affixed to the cars being picked up. Another Indian friend told me Tesla is preferred because most newer Indians did not grow up with cars as kids back home and the Tesla is much simpler to own vs an ICE vehicle AND the Tesla tech appeals to their nerdy personality.

DH is 47 and I am 45, Indians. Both have masters from US, top schools. It’s too stressful for me to work long and hard to climb the corporate ladder. I prefer to spend more time with kids. My DH works long hours but is also involved at home with a much less flexible job.

He is more ambitious snd a top performer and a frequent job switcher. I expect my salary to be stagnant and his to continue growing

You and me. 36 making $120k at a ngo.I feel so sad I make so little. Moved here at 24, lacked confidence and direction stayed in low paying job for a while and now struggling to get ahead. Finally got out on ngo and hoping my best years are yet to come.

I wish I invested in life coach or career coach early on.
