Move more. Push that stroller on long walks!
Eat a healthy diet focused on real food.
Get at least 25 g fiber a day.
Limit Added Sugars (The kind in processed food, drinks. Not fruit, whole foods.) to less than 25g a day.

Interesting. I had the opposite experience. I could eat as much as i wanted while breastfeeding and the pregnancy weight just fell off. It was much harder to keep my weight down after I stopped breastfeeding.

I’m OP and PP’s experience aligns with mine! (Third kid.) We already combo feed but I want to keep breastfeeding to an extent as long as I can as we plan on no more babies…soon enough it will be done with! Long story short, bfing does lead me to hold onto weight.

I lost my last 10 lbs of baby weight quickly 4 months post partum after when we stopped buying junk food from the grocery store. I didn’t think I was eating that badly because we ate home cooked meals with lots of veggies, but a couple cookies or a bowl of chips a day add up. Especially when you’re sleep deprived and your hormones are wacky. My energy level went back to normal after I stopped breastfeeding at 16 months and I was able to jog more regularly. I maintained the weight loss by continuing the ban on grocery junk food. Now I only have a treat once or twice a week when I’m out of the house- it’s truly a treat instead of a regular thing.

Definitely doable.

- Limit carbs but don't cut them out completely
- Limit alcohol as much as possible, special occasions only and in moderation
- Walk as much as possible
- Lift weights at least 2-3x/week, pick 5 or 6 exercises and go heavy as you can for as many reps as you can (minimum 6-8 reps, 3 or 4 sets). Don't worry about doing a set # of reps, go by feel. You should be uncomfortable by the last 1 or 2 reps. If you're not either add more weight or more reps and try to keep increasing weight over time. Conversely, if you can't do at least 6-8 reps and truly are in pain then lighten it up and make sure you are using proper form. *All of the exercises don't have to be super heavy but at least half of them should be. The others should be medium hard.
- Going heavy on lower body will give you more bang for your buck because of the larger muscles (more muscle = burning more fat) but don't neglect upper body. Women don't get bulky without steroids or eating in massive quantities so don't be afraid to hit the weights hard
- Drink lots of water and try to get as much sleep as you can
- Limit snacking, try to stop eating 3 hours before bed

I’m another one for weight off after bf. I don’t know if it was the hormones or what, but always really hard for me to lose weight while bf

Of course it's doable. But it only works if you work it. Eat less, move more. Weight loss is 80% diet. You CAN do it.

What has helped me is positive behaviors. So I drink 100 plus oz of water per day, 5 servings fruits and veggies, 10k steps, get 8 hours of sleep, go to a trainer 3 times a week to build muscle. I’m not depriving myself, I am actively working toward these goals.

Very doable! I began changing my habits in December 2021 and had gone from a 12 to an 8 by a May 2022 wedding. By December 2022, I was a 4. Still maintaining. I did Noom and found their lessons helped me to not treat food like an enemy or to exercise to eat. While I would recommend the lessons, the app/tracker has gone downhill. I think there's a book, which might be better + something like MFP if you want to track.

Tips: how (not what) I eat is more important for me than exercise. I upped the veggies, cut portion sizes, drank more water. I do eat and drink what I want in moderation. There is joy in food and I try not to deny myself that. I'd fail otherwise. I've learned to ask myself what I really want (sometimes it's really an apple; other times, it's a half a bagel with butter), recognize cues that I'm full, and to value leaving portions for later (my new mentality is more goodness tomorrow).

For exercise, weights 3 times a week, HIIT maybe once a week, and I get around 10K+ steps a day. I like to move but don't prioritize a lot of cardio anymore.

You can do this!

Oh gosh, next October! I would not hope to be a size six next month

Please!

I am 6 months pp and still looking…chunky I’m a size 10/12 and kind of out of of shape. Currently I walk and take a dance class a week and do yoga when I can, which is about once a week but sometimes once every two weeks.

I am going to a big wedding next October and I want to look really good! I’m 37 and fairly fit normally, but kind of lazy (it was easy for me to be fit without doing much in my twenties, but I’m not in my twenties anymore!). Normally a size six and would like to be a fit size six by then. Is it doable? What are your best tips?
