7 years is not the issue, the issue is that he’s a relatively recently divorced coworker. This is a bad idea all around.

The rule is "half your age plus seven." Assuming you're older than 30, you should be good.

Like actually laughed AT YOU??!

That is not only very immature of him, but it is also just plain mean.

Doesn’t sound like this guy is into you if he actually laughs at you.

And trust me -> you are much better off w/out such a jerk anyway!

Maybe it wasn’t a laugh. Maybe it was a chuckle? He sends me the nicest emails saying it’s a pleasure to work with me, try at he greatly appreciates me, etc.

Hope he is not do this via work email.

He does it via work email. Is that bad? I appreciate the kind remarks.

It’s only hopeless if you’re looking for young hot fit men, and even then not totally hopeless. I’m a little older than you and would think a mid-forties overweight divorcee would be a catch!

I have no answers OP, but in solidarity I offer up that I'm an overweight, 48yo, divorced woman with a ridiculous crush on my 10 years younger coworker. So you're not alone!

My second husband is seven years older than me.

Maybe he thought you looked good and it was a nervous laugh. Maybe he IS attracted to you.

He's not interested. Lose weight.

The age difference is no biggie but I'd be cautious about the coworker thing. If it goes south or he's not interested, it's going to be super awkward, and if you are higher up, it could be seen as harassment.

I’d proceed with caution as he is a mid 30s man who has been divorced for less than a year. Also because you work together.

I’m a divorced woman in my mid-fourties and I’ve fallen for a divorced man at work who is 7 yrs younger than I am. I’ve been divorced for over 5 years, he’s only been divorced 1 year.

Is the age difference too much? Does it matter that I’m overweight?

He and I are friends; he talks to me more than any other female, but I’m not sure he likes me in the way I want. I’ve caught him staring into my eyes - honestly, even before he was divorced, he stared into my eyes.

Today I had an especially good hair day and felt beautiful, but when I ran into him in the hall, he sort of laughed at me. I was devastated. Is it possible that he laughed because he thought I looked cute?

It’s hopeless being my age, divorced, and overweight.
