NP here. I've had long lines at MCO even with TSA pre-check. In fact, my husband got through the regular line and was at the gate before I got through security. I don't know that you need 3 hours but allowing more time than usual is a good idea.

Also, do Disney Springs on Monday. If you go when it opens, it's empty and nice to walk around. And there's enough to do to keep you occupied for a while. Walking around Celebration FL is also nice if you have a car.

Are you or your DH Star Wars fans? If so, I'd do Hollywood Studios that morning. If not, I'd just do Disney Springs or a relaxing morning at the hotel pool. But, I'm not a big AK fan.

When are you going? Be aware there is significant construction going on at the Grand Floridian and Polynesian right now. You might want to google and read some blogs to see what the most current conditions are and what is expected while you are there.

The Boardwalk area is mostly a night time destination, it's pretty quiet during the day. If you have a free evening you might want to go check it out; there are entertainers (think jugglers, magicians, etc.) performing...and my favorite is "Jelly Rolls" which is a piano bar. It's 21+ and there is a cover charge, they serve drinks but no food.

Depending on which weekend you go, make sure to check for special events. Magic Kingdom will close early for Halloween events from September through October, and then Christmas events from November through December. And since you're staying at the Polynesian, there are extended evening hours for guests at Deluxe resorts. They're usually scheduled for Monday and Wednesdays, but occasionally happen on weekends too.

Since you are staying at a monorail resort near the MK, instead of Disney Springs or Animal Kingdom, you may wish to consider a monorail ride to explore the Grand Floridian and Contemporary and perhaps have breakfast at one of them on your departure day. Lots of good restaurants between the Poly, DF, and Contemporary. As Disney lingo and Genie Plus can be complex, have a look at some videos or listen to some podcasts as well.

If you care about doing rides then you ought to understand how Genie+ and Lightning Lane work well in advance of your vacation. Otherwise you're going to be dealing with 90-minute lines.

Doing another park the same day as your departure seems like a waste. You'll probably need to leave by 12-1 at the latest, which doesn't give you much time.

I’d just do Disney Springs or explore your resort. DS gets crowded on Friday nights, though, just FYI.

Also, learn how to use Genie+, so you don’t have to wait in lines.

DH and I are going to have a long weekend at Disney World and I would love your tips. I have never been, and he hasn't been since he was 11. We are staying at the Polynesian, and have a park reservation for Magic Kingdom on Saturday and Epcot on Sunday. Our flight isn't until late afternoon on Monday, so we are considering Animal Kingdom park that day, but might just want to explore the boardwalk area or Disney Springs instead, so I haven't made that park reservation yet.

What say you, travel hive mind?
