For this saying I'm the A, why is their comfort more important than mine? I was there first. Why should I move? Have we lost the concept of common courtesy? What I asked was "are you going to play that our loud for the entire hour?"

They were annoying but you were the a.

Age, race, gender, and estimated highest level of education of all involved?

Not TA but I would have just moved - not looking to get into anything with a stranger these days.

It's like the stall sidler when all the others are open. Bizarre. And i do say 'why would you come right here of all places?'

100% no you are not.

You're the A. The other person could have picked a different area (assuming one was available), but they don't have to.

But if another area was available, then you should have just left to go sit there yourself. No need to get hostile. You have no right to expect silence while you're sitting there waiting for a kids activity to finish. Of course other parents will be there doing the same thing, and they can use their phone.

Hmm. I think you are both TA. I would have been as annoyed as you were, but I would have just moved.

Asking them why is putting on the defensive. Saying "could you please sit a little further away" or "I am going to move away from the noise now" and doing it is direct and a little further from A behavior than asking the question.

You are not TA

I'm waiting for my kid to finish their activity at the community center. I find a quiet very secluded corner to read my book and someone comes right next to me, first to watch their phone with the sound up loud and then to FaceTime with several people on speaker. I asked them why they chose to sit next to me to do this. They got in a huff and left.
