I agree with the PP that said you can’t put a laptop/Chromebook inside. They’re not designed for that.
We’ve had the same zipper binder since 5th and it’s going strong. DD has a separate case with a handle for her Chromebook.

Yup, my 6th grader's Mead 5-Star binder zipper broke after just 2 weeks. I emailed the company with photos and they mailed me a replacement within a few days. I hope this one lasts longer.

Make sure the kid uses the tabs open the rings. Don't just pull them apart or they'll bend/break.

We had best luck with 5-star brand.

Link from Amazon but usually cheaper elsewhere

My 8th grader has a college backpack with a laptop compartment that she uses for her chromebook. Then a normal, slim binder with tabs for various subjects, and a few lightweight notebooks (not the cardboard kind) for the classes that require them. The name of the game is lightening the load.

Some schools don't allow a backpack and only allow a binder. They make special ones to hold the chromebook.

I gave my kid 3 one subject college ruled notebook with a packet folder in it so he can put loose papers in. And that he carries 1 of the notebooks, and his chrome book in the chromebook briefcase to all classes. Last year we used case it, it’s so bulky for the backpack, and got deteriorated at the end of year and DC barely put anything in it.

We got the Case-It one that a lot of kids are using (zips up, has a pocket for the chromebook and a shoulder strap), but one of the rings just broke. Basically, would like something like the Case-It but won't break. Any suggestions on what's worked for you? I'd like this to be my last binder purchase of the year!

Maybe you got a defective case it because both of my kids used their case it for all of their middle school years.

+1. My kid is in his fourth year using it now.

Purchase a Mead from Amazon - they guarantee they will make it through the school year.
But for right now - put tape over the broken ring so they dont hurt themselves and push off purchasing the next one for a month when you get a sense of what can be modified in your child's binder.
