I’m so sorry that your child was harmed in the name of religion. I’m a Christian and I’m so tired of people using religion as a reason for their bigotry. I hope they’re able to develop a relationship with God in time and not let people’s ignorance take that from them

The United Church of Christ may have some good resources as well. Do not confuse them with the Church of Christ.

OP it's not clear who did this to your teen. Do you need to move your family to a different faith community to get away from this?

Op here- this was done at a summer camp they no longer attend- a decision we fully supported.

Look up the mama bears on Facebook groups. There was an article about them in either the NYT or WaPo.

Episcopalian. We have good friends who attend National Cathedral and feel very welcomed and active in that faith community as a gay couple.

Try an Episcopalian or Unitarian church. No kid is going to believe if their church insists their existence is evil

Have them study buddism.

Please don’t be mean but are there any good resources for helping LGBTQ+ kids (and their families to support them) develop their relationship with God? I’m not talking about changing who they are- but how we as parents can help them grow in this area esp when they have been hurt/shamed by Christians and now profess they don’t believe. Our DC is 14 and doesn’t believe— in part because they have had some of these same experiences. I’m not trying to force it and would understand if they don’t accept. just trying to show them that there are people/churches/guides that can help them (and us) navigate this while supporting and loving them.
