MCPS said the curriculum that they received bids for wasn't "diverse enough" so they punted on replacing Benchmark and reissued the RFP to get more bids from more curriculum providers in the hopes they'd net one with a sufficient level of diversity that is tolerable for MCPS. They don't specify, in any meaningful detail, what that means, but that's what they said in school board meetings.
It's unbelievable if that is the real reason, and ridiculous if the BOE didn't push back on the sorry excuse. Why can't they just buy extra books to supplement the materials?
