I don't think they publish a lot of information on the ID clinics. It's very hard to predict. I don't think they want the system to be transparent, as they want flexibility.

To answer the OP, my understanding is that the coach needs to recommend players, and a scout needs to come and watch those players, I believe at least twice.

Starts at U14 with a wider net and the pool of players narrows each year. W/r/t Manassas, there were 20 players invited at the U15 level (from NC, VA and MD), and I would assume 30 at U14 based on what was done last year.

It is the beginning of an identification process. They want to see the same players over the next few years and see how they are developing. They will also see these players at some tournaments and keep notes on them. At this age it's mostly coach nominated players. There could be someone they spot at a tournament where they are looking at existing players on their radar.

Coaches for ID Centers, US Scouts for Regional and National Camps.

Pretty sure it’s coach recommendations as well. Everybody has to keep in mind that these events are just opportunities, they’re not necessarily truly reflective on whether a player has what it takes to play at the international level. It’s an opportunity to play in front of scouts.

How do USYNT ID centers work? I see that there was one today in Manassas for U14s and U15s. Do they reach out to area coaches and ask for their top players at this age group? Do they reach out to a lot of youth soccer coaches or just the ones who they think have talented players? And how many girls were at today’s trainings for example? No need to disparage anyone in the replies. Genuinely curious about how it works.
