Get away with what? People quit jobs all the time and the smart ones burn unused leave before they go because most districts don’t pay out on that anymore.


At the start of the school year? I'm guessing a medical issue. Out frequently for appointments before a procedure that now has her out for a few days. Could be something like IVF.

A coworker at my school is out on intermittent leave. His mom is in and out of hospice.

Two of my child's teachers did this and then they quit for medical reasons! It was so sad. They were great, great teachers.

It’s quite possible that this teacher has a medical issue or that she is a caretaker for someone with a medical issue. Different people handle stress in different ways. In some cases, the stress of an outside-of-work challenge contributes to a person quitting. In others, the person likes the distraction of work and the stable income. There’s just no way to know if you’ll lose this teacher or not.

She's not going to get away with what. People quit jobs all the time. She's not an indentured servant.

If we don’t use the leave, we loose it. Anyways, there’s always a honeymoon period at a new job (so she’ll be happier, even if they don’t allow leave in the first few months.)

What is she getting away with? Attending meetings, or using allotted leave?
