My dad who passed five years ago also occasionally visits me in my dreams. He is in the prime of his life, My mom passed last year and now visits me in my dreams to hang out. It is nice to be around them again.

Same, I occasionally have really uncannily vivid dreams with my Dad. Many in the first year, now they have tapered off. It's always such a pleasure when it happens.

Let me guess.....butterflies....or bluebird....or ladybugs

Isn't funny that nobody ever says "right after my Great Aunt Betty died, we got field mice in the basement. Now, whenever I see a mouse, I think of her."

"Right after grandpa died, a family of bats nested in the attic. I always get a warm feeling now when I hear them dart across the night sky"

I was very close to my grandma and visited her often when I was in my home country.
there is this distinct scent that I smelt when I stayed with her - like water on sand
I have never smelt it since I moved to the US. She passed on in 2018 and often I smell that water on sand scent and I feel her around me.
she always motivated me when I was younger to be strong for my mother (terrible marriage between her and my father)
I miss her a lot. She died to due to complications from post-surgery. She shouldn't have died.

My dad passed away in 2017. I believe he is my angel and is present in my life when I want him around me. Because he was my dad in this life and I was the apple of his eye, at least till I am on this Earth, he has to continue to care for me like a father. As a result, I continue to ask small and big favors from him. "Hey Dad! Can you make sure that my medical tests are fine? I am searching for my important papers, can you make sure that I find it? etc, etc. " I feel really connected with his spirit, but sometimes I miss his physical presence too. The feel of his cheeks, his smell, his laughter. I want to give him a long hug and I want to sometimes have a good long cry. Also, my kids are growing up so I miss that he is not there for their milestones. My parents gave the world to us.

I think because I talk and think about him so much, he used to visit me in my dreams too. However, after one particularly vivid and fantastic dream, I got the message from him that I need to let him go and that my family remains intact in the spirit world. There are lots of people there that I do not know, my ancestors etc...but I saw all of them. Including a child of mine who was not born. A lot of supernatural things have happened in my life that is unbelievable and I do not question that spirit exists after we are gone. And in the spirit world, only love survives. The hate survives in physical world.

While I love feeling connected when I see a cardinal or rainbow, I wanted a more specific message, so I "asked" to hear a particular song that we used to sing in the car on an 8-track cassette when I was a kid. It was a really obscure show tune song that I hadn't heard in 40+ years.

About a month later, a friend's son was in a revival of the musical, and he had a solo singing THAT song. She uploaded it to Facebook (which I look at 4x a year), and it felt like I was being serenaded by a dead relative.

In the restaurant One of by Land Two of my Sea in Manhattan Arron Burr periodically communicates with staff and guests. Kinda creepy.

Restaurant is in his old house and gets pissed about it now and then

Perfectly timed songs on the radio-with meaning to the moment.
Robins.
Pennies or dimes.
His favorite NFL team logo (and not common in this area).
Things that happen right when his beloved grandsons have something wonderful happen.
I wish I saw him in dreams more.

How do they do it?
Through dreams? or in 'person'?
