That is bad! I'm sorry to hear that.

Sounds like other people are saying this normal. Consider me educated now!

OP

For a high quality cup of single pour over, I might pay that amount. For a basic batch brew, no.

I don't understand the complaint. They sold you a non-essential good at the agreed upon price. You obviously didn't have to buy it. If you didn't like the price, you could have declined and walked out.

NP. Maybe because things are typically cheaper in the south? But since it's in the travel forum I'm thinking they were at a destination and not Maybelle's diner in Hootchie AL

Did you get a fancy drink or dessert?

That was just for coffee with red chili pepper flavoring. 12 ounces.

Also, maybe they are paying a fair wage and that's why it was $6.

No. Little independent coffee shop.

So someone wouldn't say, "Where are you? Are you in NYC? Coffee is expensive in NYC and so on."

I don't know what you are on about. Coffees have been that expensive for years thanks to Starbucks. Prices are not going to go down.

$6. is a normal price at Starbucks. Not sure what your issue is.

I wanted to support a local business so went out for coffee this morning. $6. I gave a $2 tip (my own fault) but the total was $8 with the tip.

This is nuts. I won't be doing that again. Are prices every going to come back to normal? For $6, I feel tip should be included and the business should be paying a fare wage.
