Subject: 2024_NSMF
The NMSF program always struck me as ridiculous. (And I qualified some decades ago.) You get an award for doing well…on a practice test? And you’ll probably do well on the actual SAT and go to a good college. Isn’t that recognition enough? NMSF is like a standardized test fetish.

They weren’t. Just like the overwhelming majority of the kids at the fancy privates aren’t either. That’s my point.

In fact the evidence suggests they do. For the class of 2022 the big privates (SFS, GDS, STA, NCS) had 21 NMSFs, and DCPS had none. For 2023 those privates had 14 and DCPS had 7. This year, those privates have 16 and DCPS has 8. The kids seem to have been redistributed by forces beyond their control, but they’re still hitting their numbers.
Correction, in 2022 DCPS had 2.

Sidwell didn’t have 16 last year…you can look up the actual number on Reddit…I think I was actually fewer than 8.

I wonder how many states would have 0 NSMF if the cutoff was 223. They say it doens't mean anything but it really speaks to the discrepancy in educational standards across the country. West Virginia, New Mexico at the bottom of the list.
