Jeez. I do this. I mean, there’s no piles of laundry or dishes or mess like that, but yeah, you can see my bed, and yeah, sometimes it’s not made. Who cares? All my meetings are internal or with consultants working for us. If I’m talking to a client, I make sure the bed is made.

I don’t like the backgrounds. They always end up looking so fake and blurring weirdly around your hair. It’s just a bed, what is so bothersome about that?

I’m with you OP. I’m so tired of people making excuses for the lousy and lazy effort by some who WFH. It’s as if WFH exempts you from professionalism of any stripe. In fact, we should expect MORE from WFH folks because they don’t have to commute.

Agree completely, the number of bizarre and inappropriate things I’ve seen in people’s rooms on business calls these past few years is absurd. Most people should be blurring the background or at least not leaving the bong out on their unmade bed.

OP you don’t seem focused on the content of the meetings, but more on the bedroom contents. Maybe you should look for a new job since you seem checked out.

I ZOOM from my bedroom but have a light colored solid wall behind me. I agree that I don't want to see messy rooms.

I can’t believe how many messy bedrooms I’ve seen on zoom in recent weeks.

Why on earth do people zoom from their bedroom without putting up a background pic?

We can see your unmade bed and box of saltines, coffee mug, empty soda bottles, and what appears to be dirty dishes on your nightstand and we are collectively cringing.

We can see the pile of clothes/laundry on your bed and nearby floor.

The most baffling part: you clearly took time to do your hair and makeup, so why the mess in the background?
