Churches are vital parts of a community that provide conference rooms and meeting spaces for all sorts of community and civic groups. They don't just take up space but provide hosting places otherwise unavailable to people.

Land accessible to developed cities and infrastructure is NOT unlimited. We need more dense areas, more town-centric, etc. Its ridiculous how much land they take up. Same with churches and their living rent-free/tax-free/audit-free. Yes, they should be banned. Its all poppy-cock. Processing of bodies through embalming is also a horrendous practice.

I don't think existing graveyards should be undone and developed, but we certainly need a better solution going forward.

That isn’t going to happen. People have a lot of religious beliefs about burying the body whole. We need to adopt the practices of the East. They wrap the body in white cloth, and drop it in a hole.

Seriously, why do we waste so much land on the dead? It is valuable space that could be used for housing, especially in and around metropolitan areas. There dead people, people. Isn't it time we think about using the land for housing and banning future burial plots? They're also terrible for the environment because they use huge amounts of water to keep green, tons of pesticides to keep out weeds, and are generally devoid of plant life to support ecosystems. Just creamate people, what the problem? We are running out of space to bury dead people, so why should we make the living suffer?
