Perfectly decent school but a destination for academically average kids from wealthy families. It doesn't give much need-based assistance. If your DC has as strong a record as you say, then he/she should aim higher.

BC students are above "academically average", but I do understand your comment.

BC is one of the top choices outside of T25.
Its very competitive and acceptance rate is low to mid teen. Its not just above average. Its way above average.

+100
extremely competitive to get in. Our counselor said without a minimum 35 ACT (not superscored) forget it.

My husband and I went there. It’s extremely spirited and we all tailgate and go to games. We sometimes stay on campus and sometimes go into Boston. Just depends on what’s going on that night. It was a great education and I loved that it was Catholic (mass in the basement of the dorm at 7pm? Yes please). It’s a beautiful campus with active students who also enjoy Boston. But yes, it’s expensive so many are wealthy. Good luck to your kid.

70% Catholic. They love the kids from Jesuit high schools.

and for non-Catholics : bucknell/Lehigh/Colgate

So you basically described my kid to a T. Throw in Richmond and Wake and voila, you have his college list.

Close friend’s daughter went there. Graduated from a very well-respected boarding school. Top test scores, extracurriculars, leadership. Shut out of the Ivies she applied to.
She ended up having a good experience, great internships (mostly arranged on her own), and is financially successful and grounded.
She was involved in student government types of activities but not tons of social/going out activities, mainly because she is quieter and doesn’t gravitate towards that.
FWIW I think she’s one of those kids who was going to land on her feet and be successful in her career no matter where she went.

Kids who don’t have the grades and scores for ND or Georgetown, end up ED1 or ED2 at BC. Your kid’s profile is actually spot on for BC OP. It’s a very respectable school.

At our public HS, BC doesn't accept anyone outside the top 10% of the class. Definitely better than "academically average."
