I remember a book like this but it was a bear, not a child.

Could it be a boy instead of a girl? We have Max and the Tag-Along Moon, but Floyd Cooper, and that is the plot.

The family is visiting the boy's grandpa and when they leave, the grandpa tells Max that if he ever misses him, to look up at the moon and know his grandpa is looking at the same moon.

Then Max tracks the moon in the car all the way home, over bridges and past hills and the like. When they get home, it gets cloudy and Max is sad because he's lost the moon. But then in his bed, he looks out the window and the moon is out again, and he thinks about his grandpa and how he was right about the moon.

It's very sweet. I believe it was one of the books we got through the Dolly Parton free books program.

Papa, please get the moon for me by Eric Carle

It’s a children’s picture book, and in the book I believe the story goes something like this: the family is driving home from somewhere, it’s night. The moon is out and the little girl looks at it from her window. It follows them, maybe over a hill, past a forest, etc. I believe she finally sees it from her bed at home, or something like that.

We used to check it out but can’t find it and my kids loved it so much! The librarians have no clue either. Help!
