Nothing is too weird in kindergarten. But then again, I live in San Francisco, where I've seen kids in 5th grade wearing capes over their outfits to school. (Some superhero style, some wizard style.)

The latter is totally fine and common for kindergarteners (a costume would be distracting). I'm surprised she's the only one wearing them! I also had a sparkly tutu loving individualist at that age that now is a super stylish bigger kid that wouldn't be caught dead in sparkles and tutus. She's still totally unique and EVERYONE knows her because she stands out from the crowd. That's a great thing! Don't rush your DD to grow up, she'll be too cool for sparkles and accessories before you know it.

And mine also brought a stuffed animal through second grade. They were part of whatever ongoing pretend play game she had at recess with her friends. It stayed in her backpack and I never heard about her being teased for it (and she went to a tough city school, so she would have gotten teased if it was a thing to tease about).

No weird. My daughter regularly wore one in kindergarten and 1st grade.

I think she is adorable, my daughter has always been a tomboy and I look longingly at kids like your daughter. Let her enjoy her outfits!

Totally fine. As long as the kid and move and run around and it isn't a distraction to other kids, I think it's fun.

No, it is not weird, it's fun. Glad your DD enjoys self-expression and having fun with her clothes. Embrace it.

Also, there is a very cute picture book series by Channing Tatum (I know, I too was surprised) called Sparkella that is about a little girl who loves to wear tutus and sparkles and other fun things. In the first book, she goes to a new school and is nervous and then upset when the other kids, who aren't quite so effervescent in their clothes, think she's weird. But she learns to be herself and embrace her choices, and finds friends who actually like the same things and maybe were afraid to show it in the past. It's a very sweet book and my offbeat, over-the-top kid really responded well to it.

Is the tutu a distraction for the other kids? If it's too much like a costume, it could be against the school's dress code.
