Happens at concerts and shows in this area, too - people are rude and selfish. Don't be afraid to shush them, OP.

I am someone who tends to talk louder then necessary on the phone. I have a voice that people seem to struggle to hear, and I actually do have some hearing loss though I'm only 42, so I instinctively raise my voice and over-enunciate on the phone both to avoid confusion and because I am having trouble hearing them and I speak up almost to encourage them to do the same.

Though I generally step away form others in order to talk on the phone. It can be hard at kid events though. A few times at swim meets, I've gotten an urgent call (like: insurance claims adjuster I've been trying to reach all day suddenly calls) just as my kid is starting a heat. I try to keep it short and be aware of my voice, but also if my kid looks up and I'm not there, she will be upset. This is a very rare occurrence though. Usually I can send the call to voicemail or step away.

No, this time it appeared to be a loud 30-40 year old mom calling her family friend/ or DH to come watch the game. She clearly wanted everyone sitting next to her to hear her entire conversation! She wasn't a frail older person losing hearing or a clueless socially awkward or weird man, she was a "with it" mom wearing an "Oak Bend Middle School (fake name) Strong" t-shirt.

So true. People are always louder on the phone than necessary. Usually, they can't hear the caller well, so they compensate by getting louder themselves. Especially outside or if there is ambient noise. Wearing earbuds or a headset helps. I notice my husband is not as loud when he has his earbuds in.

Is this golf or tennis? Because talking on the sidelines in normal in other sports.

Loud conversations on the phone at a sporting event next to everyone? If you do this why? It's like you want everyone to hear.
