I am 50 and am officially post-menopausal. Looking back, I probably suffered most of my symptoms during the pandemic lockdowns, which is when I started to miss my periods and experienced anxiety, depression, and hot flashes. Luckily I was hidden away when going through the worst of it. haha

I could have written the same post as 19:43. So is this just the status quo now?! Ugh I hate feeling bloated and crappy half of every month now.

How would you know when your period has been reliably perfect and light due to oral birth control for a zillion years and Dr has not suggested going off it (currently age 43)?

52 and just started.

I'm almost 47, and I've been fighting it since 40. It really really sucks.

Not until around 50 for me. Until this year, my periods were still regular- around 28 days. I'm a hot sleeper but no real hot flashes. Memory isn't quite what it was.

It varies. My period got unreliable and I started hot flashing something awful at 48. Now, about to be 53 in a couple of weeks I have finally hit the menopause mark (1 year period-free). Still hot flashing but nowhere near as bad as it was in the beginning, and I had about a year totally free from it. A word of advice, if you have awful issues like I did -- I had bad hot flashes and terrible sleep problems -- do not hesitate to see a doctor about hormone replacement. I never did it, and I regret it. I think I suffered for years for no reason.

I am 49. I have been suffering for the last 3 years, but this year is worse. I have finally decided to take some actions to ease up the symptoms— losing weight, building muscle, and cutting back on sugar, including alcohol.

I think at 48 when I started getting more anxious. No changes to periods

I’d say it started for me around 42. I started to have noticeable PMS even with an IUD. My whole life I only had mild, short-lived PMS. My periods are extremely light with an IUD but they started to get unpredictable. I started sleeping terribly, gaining weight in my midsection where I’d never carried weight before, I was irritable all the time. I started to feel warm all the time. All of this has gotten more pronounced each year.

I’m 45 now. Still have an IUD. My PMS now lasts about 2.5 weeks (the breast soreness is no joke, worse than when I was pregnant), followed by a week of feeling totally bloated and depleted, and then my period may or may not appear. I’m super hot most nights (but not sweating). The random rage has gotten better. I have to very conscious of what I eat, getting enough sleep, limiting alcohol, and exercising regularly to keep my sanity.

Early 40’s but didn’t realize until 44ish.

I'm 43 and my periods started getting slightly shorter, with spotting prior, a year ago. Also I've been monitoring my hormones and I notice that my progesterone is quite low. I don't actually know the level it was before, but the app/test strips I use just tell me it's on the low side.

I’m only 39 and I think it’s starting. Suddenly my periods are 3.5 weeks apart and heavier. I also have an IUD.
