Tied to the age but not to chores, however we will pay extra for things we need done but don't have time to do. Like she makes $20 for cleaning out the fridge.

Errands for us - now they can drive
Cleans up after self at all times (dishes directly into the dishwasher vs the sink) and cleans off table after they eat
Helps clean up from dinner
Keeps room clean
Their laundry (with some input put if I am WFH I will switch it over)
Empty dishwater as needed
Seasonal yard work (rake, help put up holiday decorations, etc)


Since we didn't have housekeeping during the pandemic they (along with us)
Cleaned their bathroom weekly
Washed glass storm door daily (dog nose prints all.the.time)
Vacuumed weekly
Dusted weekly

We tie it to their age. So my 13 year old gets $13 per week. It's loosely tied to chores--he has a list of chores he is responsible for--but it's more about teaching him how to manage money. It can also be reduced or eliminated completely based on behavior.

Kids get age they are (currently 17 year old gets $17/week.) Not attached to chores, but expected to keep room tidy and assist around the house with routine things (empty dishwasher when finished) and random things (rake leaves with the family.)

They didn't really start spending regularly until they were in late HS and had a much more robust social life. So they banked several hundred dollars from when they were young and the pandemic.

They have to do chores because they're a member of the household. They get allowance to teach them about money, saving, delayed gratification, budgeting, etc. Two totally separate things that have nothing to do with each other.

$40 a month. Not tied to regular chores. They can do extra chores, stuff like wash blinds to make more money. Or sometimes if I'm really busy with work they do some of my regular chores for extra money too.

$20/week divided as follows: $10 spending; $9 saving; $1 charitable donation. The $20 goes into those 3 pots automatically. Just allowance, no required chores. Like the PP, chores are a shared responsibility for living in the house.

10 a week. No, not contingent on chores, but can lose your allowance for disrespect, etc. Chores are part of living in our house -- I don't pay for them!
