Our PTA has a budget of only $10k or so, but we use it to pay KAH for this. It is worth looking into because it doesn’t cost much - just paying the staff for their time.

This. Kids out of diapers can go to childcare on site. Infants can come to the presentations.

The issue with school-offered childcare is that they can't possibly accommodate ALL the kids if a ton of them show up. Our school offers childcare during PTA meetings, but at BTSN they'd be swamped, so they don't offer it. Everyone's on their own for that.

Elementary, middle and high schools would much rather you didn't bring kids, since there is no space to accommodate everyone.

I agree that in elementary it poses a childcare problem. For years, I went to BTSN, and my husband stayed home with the kids.

There are always kids at back to school night, whether it’s “allowed” or not. Very few offer childcare but it is a nice gesture for those that do.

No. PTA or aftercare provider offered childcare.

Our PTA funds the childcare. I know the budgets of PTAs varies a lot, but if your has the budget, maybe talk to them about including it? Ours is run by our extended day provider.

+1

Since my kids aged out, I don’t know if they still do, but the PTA would organize childcare on back to school night. BTSN was a parent event but you still had parents who would bring their kids even though there was free childcare and they weren’t allowed.

This year ours explicitly says to have your kid come and that students will show you the school, but it hasn't happened yet so I don't know what that looks like.

Ours does. In the communication home about BTS their is nothing stating to bring or not to bring, but most people do.

Ours offered childcare during BTSN with the aftercare provider on site.

They have always asked kids stay home but ok with it if you don't have child care.
