The ones I've met are mostly idealistic and naive. Which would be sweet if they weren't trying to base policy on an unrealistic worldview.

I recently saw a tweet re: Seattle, wringing hands over their soaring murder rate. It stood at 50!!!!! DC is a multiple of that and the year ain't over.

PP here who mentioned the once-common opposition to communism. I'm not going to respond to the comically stupid false choice of the Pinochet commenter, but I do want to respond to the DSA member's allegation that my view lacks nuance. You're wrong. I don't doubt that there are many factors contributing to rising crime, including structural issues and some failed criminal justice policies. But we should be jailing more people, not fewer people.
