You are lucky! I got an 8am report time last week. It took them until 5pm to pick the jury, and we all went home. Jurors had to come back on the next trial day.

And remember to call the night before; sometimes you don't have to come in at all.

IME if you don’t get pulled out to be a possible juror then typically they dismiss you after lunch. If you do get pulled out it totally depends on the case and how the judge goes through the jurors. Could be until end of day, could be a couple of hours.

If you get selected to hear a case figure you’re coming back at least another day.

It depends entirely on the court's schedule that day. I've been called in every two years like clockwork ever since I got a DC drivers license in 2000 or so. There have been times where I've sat in the main jury room until lunch, gone to lunch, come back and have them immediately say we can go home. There have been times where I've been called into multiple potential trials in one day but not selected. I think one time I sat in the jury room for an entire day and never saw the inside of a courtroom, leaving around 3 or 4. I also have been selected for one trial, which lasted two weeks.

If you get selected for a jury, expect days when you'll be there all day, and days where you go home unexpectedly early. There's really no way to tell ahead of time.

Got called for jury duty in a couple of weeks. I know you have to show up at 9:30 AM (petit jury service), but what time do they typically release you, either if you don't get selected, or you do serve? TIA.
