3700 is really not much for a sofa, especially a sectional.

I spent $6k on a leather one 15 years ago when i was single and childless. That sofa is still with me multiple houses and two kids later, and is in good shape. Get something versatile and good quality that will last.

I got Bassett Benchmade collection 2 great room sofas at $3700 a piece. Solid wood frame, high density foam cushion, eight way hand tied springs. I thought it was a great price for the quality. Also, my each couch is 102” long whereas a regular couch is typically 80-83” long.

For a sectional, the price you quoted is pretty good.

I hear you, but with today's prices it doesn't seem exorbitant to me. Also depends how long you keep it and if it's a decent quality to survive enough years of use. It's not something you can sell later and recoup your money

Probably up to 5k for a sectional if I really loved it. 3-4 sounds fine

If you want an upgraded fabric but want to pay much, much less, buy the fabric separately and submit it to the manufacturer as “customers own material.” Ten years ago, I bought a velvet sectional from Hickory Chair and saved thousands by doing this. Manufacturers have huge markups on premium coverings.

Look for better brands, like Stickley, Hickory Chair, Century, and Hancock & Moore.

If you can afford it and it makes you happy, go for it. We have a Pottery Barn Couch I got on clearance for $500, and another one from an online store on clearance for under $500. I wouldn't spend that much as I don't want to worry about staining, spilling, dog but if you are ok with it, go for it.

Depends on how long you want to keep it. The furniture industry has transitioned to trendy, throwaway products because people like to change their decor frequently and pay low prices. However, if you’re investing in furniture for 10,20,30 years, $3700 for a couch is not unreasonable. Keep in mind that most traditional furniture can be bought for 40% off any day of the week. So, you should be able to get a $6500 couch for $3700.

I’m cheap too and furniture prices always give me sticker shock. Assuming you’re talking about a regular sofa, not a sectional, I would probably go under $3k, but I don’t necessarily think $3700 is crazy or anything.

I’ve been super happy with our Pottery Barn sofa that I think was less than $2500 (but a few years ago and prices have shot up).

Considering spending about $3700 on a large sofa. I’m usually pretty cheap but it feels like a huge splurge.
