Uh, so your movie will not qualify for the Acedemy Awards due to lack of diversity…….
Our movie was set in 1750’s Denmark……
So what will happen to so many great movies that don’t fit hollywoods diversity Guidlines? Do you now have to be historically incorrect to qualify? Think about a movie like Cast Away with Tom Hanks. It’s basically a full movie with Tom Hanks alone on an island. So by todays standards, this movie where he won a golden globe, would not even be eligible for that or the Oscar’s?
How stupid is Hollywood?
It appears that he didn't read the requirements.
There are ways to meet the requirements without having a single cast member who is female (a group that existed in Denmark), disabled (a group that existed in Denmark), LGBTQ+ (a group that existed in Denmark), or a member of an undereppresented group.
So, no there is nothing there that says you can't make a movie about Denmark and hope to win.

Just like corporations are dumping their DEI departments and slashing those budgets. The movement is dying.

The journalist cited “Parasite,” a South Korean film that became the first foreign language film ever to win the Best Picture award in 2020, as an example of another film that lacked diversity but was considered eligible for the category because of its South Korean origin; he then asked for their thoughts on the “conundrum” that an all-Nordic cast would not be eligible.
