Wow, way to over think this! Why do you need new towels too?

Thanks for all of the endorsements for the Target sheets. I am loving $55 for the whole set. And am now even thinking that I may have bought them for my son at college - though he would never give me a review.

I went down a rabbit hole looking at stuff at the Company Store. I was worried that it might be too much - but maybe if I get the sheets and towels from Target?

I am not a member of Costco, so that won't work for me, but thanks for the suggestion.

I have looked at IKEA for things for ourselves in the past and never found anything that I liked. The stuff always feels thin to me. But maybe I should look again!

I have heard lots of great things about Brooklinen - and they seem to advertise on a number of podcasts that I listen to - but too expensive right now.

I often spend a lot of money on this kind of thing but I love the JCPenny no iron sateen sheets.

I like Brooklinen luxe sateen sheets. If you are truly getting everything including duvet cover, down comforter, four pillows, cotton blanket, I think it will be more like $500-$700 total.

Thank you for these suggestions. This might be a stupid question, but why does the duvet come in different colors? It has to have a cover, right? And is the idea that the cotton blanket would be folded at the end of the bed? Or under the duvet? I wasn't lying when I said that I am hopeless with decorating!

It comes in different colors because you don’t have to have a cover if you’re using it with a flat sheet. But for me a cover is still a necessity. Just for keeping the insert cleaner longer.

You could put the cotton blanket on the bed or not. The point is just to provide options for your guests. If they’re too hot with the duvet they can just do the blanket. Etc. It could be a wool blanket or a coverlet but a cotton blanket is cheap and works well.

We do not have a guest room in our house, but one of our kids is now in college. I just found out that a dear old friend is coming to visit with her family, which is providing the perfect opportunity to buy linens that I can use in my son's bedroom when we have visitors. His bed currently has mismatched bedding because he really doesn't care, but I'd like for it to look nice when people visit. His room also has an ensuite bathroom, so I want to get towels as well.

Does anyone have suggestions for some nice, but not too expensive guest linens? I'm thinking pretty basic would probably be best since the room will still otherwise have all of my son's stuff. I dropped into a Pottery Barn for inspiration and loved their linen sheets and comforters, but don't want to spend that much money. Would be great to get it all done, including pillows, for around $400. I am hoping to be able to order online.

Links to specific products are welcome if anybody enjoys looking at stuff like this! I am pretty hopeless!
