How about some necklaces
A haircut you think looks good
Lipstick

For the bag - do you want to lean into being easy/cool/casual or get a little more fussy and structured there for contrast?

And now we are using the stupidest phrase ever when discussing fashion?

I thought we were done with the “lean in” BS.

Change the white to black, wear loafers, add a pendant necklace.

Sort of this look, which can be varied quite a bit depending on season and how "dressy" you want to make it.

I want to like this but…where is she going??

In addition to the above I thrown on a fun scarf or when it’s cold a blanket scarf. Wore it to work yesterday and got lots of compliments

Same. When I need to dress up jeans, my first step is belt/tucked in shirt and nicer shoes.

Also if my hair is dirty I’ll do a hat or a scarf.

You can do so much! This is literally the perfect template.

a.) long cardigan
b.) short bomber jacket
c.) clunky boots
d.) ballet flats
e.) fashion sneakers
f.) if you want to go for something a little trendier, sweater vests are back
g.) slouchy sweater
h.) my teen girl is cutting off the necklines of some of her tops. It's kind of an '80s look.
i.) rotate in a cargo-style jean or khaki

Also maybe a good jacket - a la Kelly McGillis in Top Gun

I wear this uniform a lot and my recipe is:

- High waist jeans that make my butt look good
- Tuck the t-shirt in to define my waist
- Cute sneakers with no-show socks (I like all white to keep it neutral, but you could do a pop of color or pattern here). Sometimes I'll trade out the sneakers for cute flats.
- Hair clean and styled, if I have to do a pony or bun due to time and condition of my hair, I take time to make it look nice.
- Clean makeup, plus lipstick
- Stud earrings and a couple layered necklaces, plus my rings.
- Either my suede tote from Sezane or my classic Coach saddle bag
- Great sunglasses

It's definitely all in the details. There's also a version of this where I wear slouchier jeans, a graphic tee that is more oversized, Birks, my Uniqlo moon bag, and a messy bun, but that's for when I'm in super casual mode and not for work or school functions.

I wear jeans (straight leg in a variety of washes) and a t-shirt nearly every single day. Agree that it looks good on me and is very comfortable. Some ideas... fashion sneakers (Chuck T all-stars in a fun color are never out of style, Veja, old school Pumas or Sauconys), ballet flats that are comfortable, Blundstones for winter... t-shirts in more colors than white, and go for a different neckline (my go-to is the J Crew vintage cotton t in scoop neck). Add a couple of bracelets and/or fun earrings or a headband.

I’m 52, size 8, and 5’7” so a solid medium body type in decent shape. White T and faded boyfriend jeans have become my easy WFH uniform of sorts. They fit well and I think they compliment my body type, but I’m wondering: how would you all suggest making these basics a bit more fashionable for basic events like running into my kids’ school, walking to the store, meeting a friend for mid day coffee, etc.?

I need to retire my Birks and sneakers, and maybe add a super easy accessory and bag? I’ve just become too casual for my own liking and feel extraordinarily bland.

If anyone has suggestions or even links to share, please do!
