I’m vaccinated against Covid but…yeah. Not getting your covid boosters in 2023 doesn’t make you an anti-vaxxer.

Here's this:

I eagerly went and got a yellow fever vaccine and a Hep B vaccine earlier this year for travel to Africa. Those vaccines do protect me and WORK.

But I am not getting a covid vax.

This use case does not tag me as an anti-vaxer.

Because if they acknowledge they were wrong about that, they have to admit their loved ones died of something preventable and they contributed to the mindset that caused their death. It’s easier to dig in and risk their luck with Covid (because really, the chances of any one person dying from Covid are low) than to deal with the feelings that come from finding out you were wrong and were part of something terrible, even if your goal was to be a good and healthy person. If they keep believing vaccines are bad, then it makes sense that someone they loved died, and there was nothing they could’ve done to prevent it.

Antivaxxers dismiss 1.1 million Covid deaths as nbd (we have to "move on with our lives", we can't lockdown forever etc) and mock mask wearers for"living in fear. but when it comes to extremely rare vax injuries they become oversensitive bleeding hearts and say anyone who points out the obvious that vaccines do far more good than harm are heartless meanies. Why?
