I heard it was a random incident with 2 people not related to the school. One of the people ran into the school asking for help. I heard that the principal did not address this when a note was sent home about the incident.

No idea what happened but it could also be someone in a relationship with a staff member.

People didn't used to have disputes over custody? Sure they did.

I do think it's true that people didn't used to fear that a dispute over custody would lead to somebody shooting up the school. But in the US these days, we love our guns more than we love our children, so here we are.

SCHOOL LOCKDOWN: Travilah Elementary (@MCPS, MD). ~3:10PM Wednesday, school locked down as a precaution after an individual involved in a domestic dispute/altercation walked into the school's front office. Montgomery County Police (1st District) on scene.

Saying this didn't used to happen isn't really fair in cases like this. I'd much rather they lock the kids in their rooms until the dispute is over then to simply give a kid to the non-custodial parent. Rules are in place to correct issues that were over looked in the past.

It seems like parents are really unhinged this year. I don't know what's going on with them.
