Yes it's wildly overpriced. But the Wildwood one is very convenient to my teenager's soccer practice and he scarfs down food from their hot bar (chicken/fish, rice, vegetables.) Other kid really likes their crab cakes. Their burgers (bacon/cheddar; blue cheese) are very popular too.

I used to go there to kill time when I had a stretch of doctors appointments in the area several years ago. I liked their big selection of Stonewall Kitchen products.

Nothing. It's a regular grocery store.

Second the cheeses - so many! If you don't know what to buy, talk to them - I have found the people who work there very knowledgable

Some (maybe most) of their pantry items are available and less expensive elsewhere. Their prepared foods & most cheese/butcher/seafood selections are not Safeway items.

Sometimes they have skewers of grilled citrus shrimp. So good!

I love their fresh bread on the way to check out - the brioche hamburger buns are SO GOOD. One day I want to have a BBQ with those, but it's a splurge.

they have a HUGE cheese selection, even grabbing some variety of goat cheese will be yummy.

I also love that cod - my dad thinks the crab cakes are awfully salty.

Dad also loves the homemade tuna and chicken salad, across from the refrigerated prepared foods.

they have great rugalach! At least two different flavors. Tons of other baked goods. Check the "prepared" date, you can usually get some fresher than others.

I think it’s called horseradish cod or something like that? They always have it, and it’s so good. In the bakery, dolly sin cake is good, too. In the meat section, we usually get a less expensive cut such as hanger or flank and ask them to marinade it. Depending on the day, they change their available marinades but their garlic one is our favorite.

+1 for the lobster bisque

DH will be near the Balducci's in Alexandria later this week. I love a good gourmet grocery store. What should I have him pick up?

What are your favorite things to stock?
