We go to All Fired Up in Cleveland Park, DC but the quality is not high.

Clay Cafe in Falls Church is really great. I’ve made a lot of pottery like bowls and plates there that has lasted years

Thanks for posting this, OP! I found some DIYs online. Some use sharpies and dishwasher safe Modge Podge... I'm not sure about eating off of a Modge Podged surface, tbh. There are other tutorials that show how to decorate just the outside and bake the dish in the oven to set it. I'm not sure if it's dishwasher safe. I might try the non Modge Podge option.

There are kits sold online. And if you don't mind paying more, you could connect with a local pottery place?

My daughter made my husband a bowl at Color Me Mine when she was little. He uses it every single day and puts it in the dishwasher. It's starting to look a little worse for the wear. Are there any similar companies that use a better or more premium product that won't feel so thick and chip as easily? I'm also open to at-home projects as long as I can put the finished product into the dishwasher. Thanks!
