My DS’ voice changed pretty fully years before he was close to being done growing height-wise. A think there is a lot of variation.

My son is 15 and no armpit hair. Voice is still changing (cracks) and some hair on lower legs. Grew 3 inches last year.

MY DS has had two major growth spurts. Has developed leg and underarm hair but no arm or chest hair. Does it normally start lower body then upper?

I’m very curious too, as my son is mixed race and won’t get much leg or pit hair.

This would be evidence of the premise being true - big growth spurts precede the body hair growth.

I’m pretty sure the ability to grow an actual beard means height growth is about done.

I believe armpit hair/body hair varies quite a bit and is not an indicating factor….

The voice change is not totally random and I've read multiple places when their voice has fully dropped they've finished their major growth spurt. This makes sense if you think about it. Part of what is going on is their larynx is physically growing. I do think voice change can be rather quick or take longer.

When the voice change of a boy has begun, the growth spurt is in its most intensive phase. When the voice has acquired adult characteristics the growth rate has begun to decelerate.

For my son, the leg hair growth was late. But we are very fair and not that hairy in general.

My DS grew in college.

Those aspects of puberty (e.g., body hair that's not pubic hair, voices dropping) are unpredictable in timing and aren't pubertal "milestones", like the way Tanner staging is. So where they fall in a boy's pubertal growth is really all over the place.

Once a boy has significant armpit and body/leg hair, is his major height growth spurt done? Meaning, perhaps he'll grow another inch or two but that's probably about it?

Asking about what is typical; I know there can be wide variations. Thanks!
