I have two and I think my family is small. But three kids is expensive and I’m tired, so, not sure what I’ll do.

Going through another pregnancy/birth/newborn phase doesn't seem worth it to me and I don't think I would have the emotional bandwidth to take care of a third child (let alone time, since we both work somewhat demanding full time jobs). It would also be an extra financial cost that, while doable, would restrict the options we have to spend money in the way we want. It also just seems like more risk. I had a normal/healthy pregnancy and both kids are fine health-wise, so I'll take what I can get instead of risking something bad happening with a third child.

I love kids and if we'd had twins or an unexpected pregnancy that could have been joyful too. But one is perfect for us. We are not close with cousins but have several non-family communities with same-age kids, including other onlies.

I'm wondering about this too. I have two boys two years apart and they are very close. Holiday gatherings are totally sad with just the two kids and a bunch of adults...everyone is staunchly childfree. I would love another but my mother thinks this is a ridiculous reason to want an "extra" child (everyone in my family always had two kids until this generation where most people have none.)

Everyone I know that’s had one by choice (versus infertility) has been extremely pleased with the decision

I have 2 and I’m all over the board.

I frequently wish we only had one.

Other times, I sort of want a third.

More often than not, I wish we’d stuck with one though.

I guess it’s telling that I’m never quite content with 2 haha.

Totally happy with the two we have. Any more and we'd be overwhelmed.

We have 2 girls, 17 months apart, and I absolutely adore it. I just have one sister w/ a similar age gap and I always saw myself with two girls close in age.

I find two just as easy as one and we are able to manage two emotionally, logistically, and financially.

My husband and I batted around trying for a third but my pregnancies were both difficult. I also think my husband would've secretly been disappointed if #3 was a girl. He is one of three and there is always the 2 against 1 dynamic in his family (not saying that is always the case!) so he was always chiming in with that perspective.

I think if we went for #3, we would've wanted 4, and there is no way I would've done 4 pregnancies. So 2 and through it is!

Happy with 2 though thinking far into the future have slight feelings of regret at probable small holiday gatherings, especially if one or both decide not to have kids. I'm one of four and the only one with kids though (we're all between 45-50 yo), so I guess numbers don't matter.

I have two and love it. I was one of 4 and hated it, it was never enough time or attention for all of us.

I like that I can give my child the childhood I always dreamed of. I come from a very large family and always, always, always wished I were an only child.

We have one and planned to have more but it didn't happen. Rather than wallow for the rest of my life I have embraced it and I love it! No regrets.

2 - super happy with the dynamic. The world is not made for bigger families and we'd be way overtaxed by it.

We have 1 and I'm thrilled. I don't think mentally I could have handled more than 1 and at this point financially. We got a dog to have something else in the house, lol.
