OP here. That is exactly my feeling, too, and then I realized we might be being rude in the other direction if we don't.

I do! I’m nosy. But I never ask for a tour. People generally just offer.

No. The only time I’ve given or been given a tour is if I just bought the place or the other person just did renovations.

Just had this conversation yesterday with my DS. He and his wife bought their first home a few months ago and were having a few couples in. I told him the downside of a new home is people will want to see the place. (Hint: Clean up upstairs).

No a full house tour including bedrooms is weird. (Maybe unless you just moved into a new home and they were familiar with your previous home.)

Definitely not standard as in required or expected. We don't usually have guests comes upstairs if they are here for dinner, playdate etc - I haven't cleaned the whole house.
Makes sense in some circumstances like if you just moved and want to show people your home.

We don't. We show them the public areas that they might need--kitchen, dining, living, and bath, but nothing like a full tour.

I realized I find it strange, but it's not a big deal if still considered polite to give guests a tour of your house when they arrive. Is it still standard? We don't do it.
